Lando Calrissian stands up before his friends and relates a fascinating story.
Lando opines with glee the following truth: "I was working for one of the Tersan overlords of Kessel and we caught a Corellian and a Wookiee taking a large shipment of spice from the mines without authorization. These two smugglers were scheduled to be executed and I was given their case for review.
Over a three day period involving countless hours of interviews with the two, a simple person named Han Solo told me the story of how Han and Chewbacca's family were wiped out by the Empire. Chewie was the Wookiee partner of Han. They were always together at all times.
Anyway, Han told me the most sad and depressing yet touching family history I have ever heard. He told me that his entire family was killed by the Empire and that Chewie had been raising Han for as long as the two could remember.
Chewie taught Han how to love and care for people again. After hearing their predicament, I decided they had suffered enough in life. There was no way I could terminate them.
I seized all their possessions, but allowed them to leave Kessel on a garbage freighter. I figured I'd never see them again, but a couple years later I saw their names posted by Fortris the Desolate for failing to make deliveries on time.
Fortris had placed an extremely immense bounty on Han and Chewie's heads and the true story of the two was revealed by Fortris. I laughed to myself and thought Han was the slickest and most clever person I had ever met. We eventually crossed paths again, but that's an adventure to be told some other time."
Every one laughs heartily and Wedge Antilles buys the crowd a new round of drinks.
