George Lucas, the executive producer of Indiana Jones 4 and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, revealed the following quotes about the new Indy Jones movie.
"When you do a movie like this, a sequel that's very, very anticipated, people anticipate ultimately that it's going to be the Second Coming. And it's not. It's just a movie. Just like the other movies. You probably have fond memories of the other movies. But if you went back and looked at them, they might not hold up the same way your memory holds up."
"When people approach the new (Indiana Jones 4), much like they did with Phantom Menace, they have a tendency to be a little harder on it. You're not going to get a lot of accolades doing a movie like this. All you can do is lose."
"We came back to do (Indiana Jones 4) because we wanted to have fun. It's not going to make much money for us in the end. We all have some money. It would make a lot of money if you weren't rich. But we're not doing it for the money. It was really a blast. And it turned out fantastic. I like to watch it."

George Lucas revealed the following about Indiana Jones 4 and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
EW: How are you feeling about Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull? Feeling good?
Lucas: "Oh, yeah, we had a great time making it."
EW: Are you nervous about it in any way?
Lucas: "No, no, it's a great film. Will it beat (The Dark Knight)? I don't know. But we'll certainly give Batman a run for their money."
EW: Are you going to do another Indiana Jones movie after this one?
Lucas: "That I don't know. We do these one at a time and we do them purely for the fun of it, which means that if we've got too many other things going on — Steve (Spielberg)'s got a couple more movies, he's got Chicago Seven, he's got all this stuff backed up for years — who knows? At least I'm at a point now where I can just enjoy myself and be creative and not have to worry about people getting crazy or trying to make decisions around me or anything."
"And I'm to a point now where if it isn't successful, it's not the end of the world. It's always a disappointment when it doesn't turn out, but sometimes you know it's not going to turn out. I've (also) seen other people's movies that I had really high hopes for — I said, ''Oh, this is going to be great'' — and I'd see it and it is great, but it falls flat and nobody goes to see it."
"You know, I loved Across the Universe, it's a brilliant film. I wish I had made it — I don't think I'm talented enough to do that. But at the same time, it just (motions like it blew away) pffffff. It's too bad. That's the saddest part right there: Something that you think is really good and should work and people should enjoy it, and they don't."
EW: But you're confident that Indiana Jones will work?
Lucas: "Yeah, well, this one, we know that for the fans it won't be the movie that they have been making in their minds for the last 19 years, so they all get bent out of shape. A lot of the critics forget that they didn't like the first three, and so they get off on this one, too — or it's not the Second Coming. And, yeah, we didn't make it bigger and better, we made it exactly the same."
"So if you loved the other ones, you'll love this one. But if you expect to have F-14s flying under freeways — that isn't there. It's just another period adventure movie with this wacky archaeologist. It's funny. I think it's funnier than the other ones, and it's exciting. So it's got all the stuff that all the other ones have. And Harrison's great in it."

Actor Cate Blanchett, who has a featured role in Indiana Jones 4 and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, revealed the following about her Indy Jones experience.
"It's called Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I play a character, a Russian character called Irina Spalko and Steven Spielberg directed it. I'm a baddie. It's so strange when it comes to that, isn't it? I'd been saying to my agent for a couple of years that I'd love to play a baddie. 'I'd really love to play a baddie.'"
"Maybe my agent did actively seek it. Maybe that's why you have an agent, but I didn't see it coming on. I loved it. I grew up on those films and I had this surreal experience while Steven was setting up this shot at the beginning of the film with a lot of tanks and things in it."
"Then Indy walks into the frame and then I have to walk in after him--because he's number one on the call sheet--and I thought, 'I know the iconography of that frame backwards. I grew up on that.' So to have that moment of stepping through into the film of my childhood, the most loved film of my childhood, was quite extraordinary. It was exactly, in the best possible way, what I expected."
It is rumored that director Steven Spielberg isn't going to allow any digital screenings of Indiana Jones 4 and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in theaters. The new Indy Jones movie will perhaps be limited to the old fashioned 35 mm projections in cinemas.

"I would say it's [Indy Jones 4] closest to the third one (Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade). It's all adults. I mean, you have the sidekick in Shia (LaBeouf), but you don't have a Short Round and I think the banter between the characters is as fun as it was in the third movie."

John Jackson Miller wrote the trade paperback book version of Indiana Jones 4 and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Dark Horse Comics will release this material on 22 May 2008. The same date as Indy 4 hits theaters around the world. Miller had this to say about working on Indiana Jones 4:
"It was a great thrill to get a peek at what the filmmakers had planned for this long-awaited sequel, especially since I was one of the fans waiting for it. As with Star Wars, Indiana Jones was one of those franchises I followed through both the movies and the comics. I even wrote my first Indy story back in high school, so it was always a source of inspiration. Way back before there was definitely a film planned, I was already lobbying Editor Jeremy Barlow for a crack at the adaptation. I’m really hyped about the movie and working on the adaptation was a lot of fun, all around."
"The Dark Horse adaptation arrives in May with art by Luke Ross and inks by Fabio Laguna. The covers are by Hugh Fleming, who’s painted other Indy work. Between the covers? Paper, ink and a fine adventure, that’s all I can say."

SuperShadow provides some additional plot script secrets for Indiana Jones 4 and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull:
Hundreds of years ago in the distant past, the mysterious gods gave the crystal skulls to the ancient Mayans. These gods are in fact an extraterrestrial species with extremely advanced technology. During Indy Jones 4, the deceased bodies of several alien entities are resurrected to life in the catacombs and attack Indiana Jones and Mac.
As required by the Indiana Jones movie formula, Mac betrays Indy Jones by secretly conspiring with the Soviets. This is how the Russians find the heroes' camp area in the jungle. However, Mac redeems himself by turning against the Soviets in the end.
The Ark of the Covenant is in the Indy 4 film briefly in a flashback narrated by Jim Broadbent. The Ark has only a minor role and is not interwoven with the main plot line involving the crystal skulls.

David Koepp, who wrote the final version of the script for Indiana Jones 4 and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, stated this about working on the new Indy Jones movie:
"I saw little bits here and there, and at first I felt a lot of pressure [writing the script] because you don't want to be the one who messes up a beloved franchise. But there's nothing you can do except work extra hard -- so I worked extra hard. You can't approach it except as you would any other movie."
"I looked at everything that everyone had written. It's been in development since the early '90s; anything that was any good, I tried to use -- sometimes it stayed, sometimes it didn't. We're all assistant storytellers; there was a ton of material there already. Part of my job was shaper, and part of my job was coming up with new stuff."

The teaser poster for Indiana Jones 4 and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull has been revealed to the public. The poster artwork is by Drew Struzan. CLICK on the small picture below for a high-resolution pic of the teaser poster:

Frank Marshall, producer of Indiana Jones 4 and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, revealed these details about Indy 4:
"He's (Indy Jones) teaching and having kind of a quiet life. Indy travels to New Mexico, Connecticut, Mexico City and the jungles of Peru. Indy's a fallible character. He makes mistakes and gets hurt. He has a few more aches and pains now. That's the other thing people like: He's a real character, not a character with superpowers."
Indy Jones has a "'love-hate' relationship in the new film in the character of Soviet agent, Spalko."
Ray Winstone has the role of an archaeologist named Mac, who is a rival of Indy Jones. Shia LaBeouf acts in the role of Mutt, Indy's sidekick.
Marshall adds this about the crystal skulls, which are at the heart of the Indy Jones 4 plot: "The theory is they are shaped by higher powers or alien powers or came from another world, or an ancient Mayan civilization had the powers."
|
Frank Marshall, producer of Indiana Jones 4 and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, had this to say about certain actors who joined the cast of Indy 4:
"Well, no. I think it's an opportunity that doesn't come along very often — to do these kinds of big movies — but they talk to Steven and he pitches the role. [Before they commit], they want to know, rightfully, what the part is."
Marshall reveals Cate Blanchett performs the acting role of:
"The villainess in 'Indiana Jones,' so she's up for anything. She makes a great villain. She had a really fun time."
Marshall stated Ray Winstone has the role of:
"Mac, as a sort of cross between villain Belloq and friend Sallah. He plays an archaeologist competitor to Indy. Friend and competitor"
Jim Broadbent is cast as:
"A Yale colleague of Dr. Jones' that sort of replaces Marcus Brody."
Marshall added the following comments about Indiana Jones 4:
"I think the best thing I can say about it is it looks like an Indiana Jones movie in all the best ways. It's the look, it's the way that Steven designs all the shots, it's the style, it's the lighting, it's the way Indy is — all of those things. We haven't strayed."
"It sounds trite, but there's no other way to describe it. You go, 'Oh — Indy.' There's sort of a language that Steven developed for this character and for these movies. And you're going to get exactly what you got in the other three movies, which is really kind of thrilling when you see it."
"I don't think so. We're all getting too old. We have to hand the [adventure] torch to somebody else. I don't know who that's going to be."
|
David Koepp, the individual who wrote the screen play for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, had this to say about the new Indy Jones movie:
"I hope it's along the lines of the first one. It's certainly not as dark as the second one and it's certainly not as humor driven as the third one. Hopefully it will have its own place [but] it's closest to ['Raiders']."
"I've seen some footage and it's really thrilling. When you first see Harrison Ford back in Indy garb - it's just really cool."
Indy Jones 4 producer Frank Marshall revealed this about the first teaser poster for Indiana Jones 4 and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull:
"You're going to see a teaser poster later this month. What we've done is we moved it from the '40s to the ‘50s so we're acknowledging that everybody's 10 or 15 years older and it plays into the story. We're not trying to hide that Harrison's older, but we have Shia LaBeouf coming in as his sidekick, so we've got a young element. The best way to describe the movie is that it's an Indiana Jones movie. It's got all the style and elements of the old movies, and we're not really trying to do anything different."
|
It appears the first theatrical teaser trailer for Indiana Jones 4 and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull will hit cineplexes in February 2008. A commercial TV ad during the NFL Super Bowl is possible but extremely unlikely.
|
Frank Darabont, who wrote an early version of the Indy Jones 4 script, had some words about the new Indiana Jones movie:
Referring to Shia LaBeouf's character in Indy 4: "That’s a whole new element that’s been brought in. Shia? I don’t remember writing that character. I haven’t read the script, [but] at a certain point I will because I’m sure there will be an arbitration over writing credits. I keep hearing from people who are near the production and they keep saying, ‘You know, they’re using more of your ideas here than you may have thought.’ I know Steven Spielberg is not going to disappoint us. He’s going to make a great movie. As a fan, I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I hope it turns out great.”
Actor Ray Winstone talked about his role in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull:
"You go there, and you see the first camera move, and then you realize you’re in an Indiana Jones film. It’s a film I never thought I’d ever be making. Then you get a little bit [more] excited, because it’s something your kids are going to be able to watch. And working with Steven Spielberg and [George Lucas], they’re geniuses; these are clever men, and they’re great filmmakers, and you feel like you’re in the company of these people. What happened? How did I get from there to here?"
"Yep, without any shadow of a doubt — and without even realizing I was going to be like that. Harrison really uses the whip — he can hit a spot on a door with the whip! The man runs around like a 17-year-old. They wouldn’t last forever if they just had action. If it all works to plan, which I’m sure it will, it [will have that mix]; it starts off with a gallop, and [the script] just gets quicker and quicker and quicker. It’s one **** of a story, actually.”
Jack Pelton, who sold Harrison Ford a $ 16 million U.S. dollar air plane, said that Harrison: ". . . couldn't be more excited about it (Indy 4) being the best of the Indy series yet. He thinks it's really going to make for a tremendous film."

ABC-30 posted an update about Indiana Jones 4 IV and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull:
About forty people from Paramount Pictures are already here (Fresno, U.S.A.) preparing two valley locations for filming of the new Indiana Jones at chandler airport and at eagle field in Dos Palos.
By the end of the week, more than two hundred people are expected to be working on shooting scenes for one of Hollywood's most talked about movie.
Airport workers say production crews have been preparing Fresno's chandler airport since Saturday, painting lettering to make it look like Mexico City's airport.
The film is set in 1957, so old cars have been brought in, along with a DC-3 plane with Pan-America painted on the side.
Crews also painted "Branford" on the airport tower, likely to represent the airport in Branford, Connecticut, where some scenes have already been shot.
Steven Spielberg (the film director of Indiana Jones 4 IV and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) gave some inside secrets about the next Indy film:
Indiana Jones 4 will complete filming Thursday, October 11th. The poster for Indiana Jones 4 IV will be done by Drew Struzan. Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones) does most his own stunts and they are no different than what Ford did on the previous three Indy films.
Harrison still is in great shape for a 65 year old. Spielberg announced/confirmed the villains: Russians are the villains in the film and Spielberg hired Russian actors to ensure accuracy with their accents. The fourth Indy film is shot on film and not digital. Spielberg would be the last person to shoot on digital.

Cate Blanchett, who stars as a Russian in Indiana Jones 4 IV and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, had an interview with MTV News.
MTV: Which is your favorite Indy film?
Blanchett: "I have a soft spot for the first one because I adore Karen Allen. This one is a big bar of chocolate and you want to eat the whole thing. I'm really looking forward to this slotting into the boxed set."
MTV: Do you get the sense that it will fit in and not feel out of place with the others because so much time has passed?
Blanchett: "That's really hard to say, isn't it? I did feel on the first day [like], "I know the iconography of this." When they were setting up the shot and I was walking into the frame, it felt familiar and strange at the same time."
MTV: Have you finished filming?
Blanchett: "I wrapped on Saturday. They have a couple more weeks. It meant a lot to me. And it meant an enormous amount to my kids. They were on set, and Steven was great with the children. They loved all the effects and the stunts. It was a real riot for them."
MTV: Have you gotten bruised up? I would assume some significant stunt work is involved.
Blanchett: "Oh, baby. Spielberg kept saying he was butching me up."
MTV: Are there any giant boulders chasing after you?
Blanchett: "Not that I remember. Maybe that's when I was knocked unconscious."
MTV: There's so much secrecy around this movie. Who have you shared the plot with? Your family?
Blanchett: "Are you going to take them hostage?"
MTV: Yes, that was my plan.
Blanchett: "I wouldn't put them in that danger. [She laughs.] No, very few people have seen the script. Only department heads have seen the script."
Empire Magazine posted the following from Cate Blanchett:
"I was such a fan [of the Indiana Jones movies], I grew up on them. I was completely in love with Harrison Ford, and still am. He’s a hottie, he’s definitely stood the test of time."
"And it’s fantastic to be working in a genre that Steven and Harrison know like the back of their hands. They grew up making these films together; it’s like a family, all the people who’ve worked on this franchise. And they’re so welcoming; it’s a really happy set to be on."

The creator of Indiana Jones, George Lucas, revealed a few details to MTV about Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull:
"We did 'The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles' [TV show in 1992], and in the process of that, one of the scripts we were working on was about a crystal skull. I became fascinated with it there. We've been through lots of different versions [of 'Indy 4'] the last 14 years, with five different writers. [But with crystal skulls] there's just a lot of aspects that seem to fit into our kind of a movie."
"I think this is actually better, it's up there with the Ark of the Covenant. Sankara Stones and the Holy Grail were a little tough, but I think this time we've really got a great one."
"The skulls themselves are real and a lot of the stuff in the movie is real, just like in the other movies. We don't base it on a lot of phony-baloney stuff. It's all based on at least true mythology that exists today that a certain amount of the population actually believes in."
"There's several different kinds of skulls, several different kinds of theories, several myths that are surrounding them. So, you just have to put all the pieces together, look it up and figure out which one it is. Or just wait until the movie comes out, which is so much easier."

A movie spoiler web site is reporting that the Indiana Jones 4 IV and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull crew is building a set at the Downey sound stages in Los Angeles, California, USA.

Someone interviewed John Williams (the composer of the music for all the Star Wars and Indiana Jones films) about Indiana Jones 4 IV and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull:
Question: What’s the current project you’re working on?
John Williams: "Well, I just actually put pen down on a viola concerto. And I will be doing a week for the New York Philharmonic here, and then I’ll be coming out to Columbus for one day and I’ll be looking forward to meeting the orchestra. I think they’ll be great. And then I’ll be home in California the first of October to start on the next Indiana Jones."
Question: Are you just going to incorporate music from the earlier movies, or are you writing any new melodies?
John Williams: "I’ll be able to tell you in about two weeks."

TV Guide had the following interview with George Lucas, the multi billionaire creator of Indiana Jones.
TV Guide: Speaking of friends working together, you and Steven Spielberg — how's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull going?
Lucas: "Very well. Very well indeed."
TV Guide: Were you disappointed about Sean Connery not coming out of retirement to play Indy's father?
Lucas: "No, in the end, it turned out better. In the beginning, he was just in a little bit of it, and I think with the strength of Sean Connery, people would've wanted him to go all the way through the whole thing, and the story really didn't work that way. And so I think there would've been some disappointment that [his character] dropped out partway through the movie. By having somebody else fill that role, you lose him without any regret, so to speak, even though we got a great actor to play the part. And I mean, he's not his father, so it's much easier...."
TV Guide: You mean [the other actor] is not playing Indy's father?
Lucas: "That's right. It's just a completely different character, so you're not invested in him in any way. The fact that that character, after the first part of the movie, isn't needed doesn't become a problem. Whereas I think with the scene we had, where [Indy] says goodbye to his dad, everybody was, "Wait a minute! Isn't he coming back?" So in the end, I think it turned out for the best. Sean just retired and he wants to stay retired, and I understand that. [Laughs] I think he just said, "Look, I've done it, I've done it." He was very tempted, you know, and we talked for a long time. But in the end, he just said, "Eh, I'm playing golf.""
TV Guide: Anything about the film that's been out there, wrong Internet buzz, that you want to correct?
Lucas: "Well, I don't really read the Internet buzz."
TV Guide: Probably healthy.
Lucas: "Yeah, I don't get involved in all that. A film is what it is. And you know, I think it's turned out well. It's very funny, it's very exciting, and it's everything that the other ones were. I can't wait to see it! [Laughs]"
MTV News conducted an interview with Cate Blanchett, who plays the role of a Russian villain in Indy Jones 4 IV.
Cate remembered watching Indiana Jones: "kiss Karen Allen when they fall asleep. I can remember that was a big part for me. I thought, ‘Ooh, gosh. When I grow up I’d like to marry a man like him, even if he does fall asleep after I kiss him.’”
Does Cate finally get to kiss Indiana Jones? "[Not] unless they’ve changed the script pages. I don’t think so."
|
Actor Jim Broadbent revealed a few details about his role in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Question: "And who are you in Indiana Jones 4 IV?"
Broadbent: "I'm Indiana's academic colleague at Yale. I'm his friend and colleague - there's a couple of my scenes to go."
A few Indiana Jones 4 IV movie spoiler web sites are reporting that the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull theatrical teaser trailer might debut with the Robert Zemeckis film called Beowulf, which opens November 16, 2007.
George Lucas (the creator of Indiana Jones 4 IV) has stated that the Indy 4 teaser trailer would hit cineplexes around Thanksgiving 2007. Since Beowulf is a major Paramount Pictures production (the same movie studio making Indiana Jones 4 IV), this could be the movie that gets the Indy 4 trailer.

During the Toronto Film Festival, the Entertainment Weekly weekly periodical had an interview with Cate Blanchett about Indiana Jones 4 IV and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull:
Entertainment Weekly: Speaking of, what can you tell me about the new Indiana Jones film?
Cate: "It's phenomenal to be working with Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg and Karen Allen. All of whom were in one of the most amazing experiences of my childhood, watching that film. And then I'm stepping into the frame. It's a real Zelig moment for me. It was really quite moving when Karen filmed her first entry into the film the other day. You know, Spielberg said: ''I feel so young!'' (Laughs). It was fantastic."
Entertainment Weekly: And what is the Spielberg experience?
Cate: "Look. He's an absolute master. He knows the genre like the back of his hand and he makes fantastic suggestions. He's really fast and incredibly creative. Like, if a shot's not working, he'd completely change it and do something equally as amazing. And it's weird because I feel like I know all the movies as an audience (member). I know all the lighting. I know all the elements. But it's coming together in a new way. And Harrison looks ******* great."

BBC Birmingham posted an interview with Dan Yeates (the godson of Ray Winstone [the actor playing one of Indy Jones' sidekicks in Indy 4]) who watched 4 days of Indiana Jones 4 IV being filmed. Yeates had this to say:
"When Ray was up doing his scenes I'd sit in his chair. Steven Spielberg was sat one side of me, George Lucas the other. Meanwhile Ray was doing a scene with Harrison Ford. It was quite surreal."
"It was just incredible. I was stunned at how big the production is. In the studio we were in they must have had six or seven gigantic sets all built there."
"When Harrison Ford walked on set - wow! He's quite shy and reserved. I know people are worried about him playing Indy at his age but I can tell you first hand that as soon as Steven yelled 'Action!' Harrison was throwing himself into everything, doing all the stunts they'd let him."

Lucasfilm has filed the following film titles regarding Indiana Jones 4 IV with the Motion Pictures Association of America:
Indiana Jones and the City of Gods
Indiana Jones and the Destroyer of Worlds
Indiana Jones and the Fourth Corner of the Earth
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Indiana Jones and the Lost City of Gold
Indiana Jones and the Quest for the Covenant
One of these proposed titles could be the real one, which will be released when the Indiana Jones 4 IV teaser trailer hits cinemas around Thanksgiving 2007

Berkshire Eagle Online released an interview with Karen Allen, who plays the role of Marion Ravenwood in Indiana Jones 4 IV. Allen revealed the following about the new Indy Jones movie:
"You want to get in shape for all kinds of reasons: You want to look good, and it's physically demanding, and you need stamina and energy. I put my iPod on and boogie."
"It's an action-adventure role, because that's really the nature of these films. They are shot-out-of-a-cannon kinds of films — there is a lot going on from the moment it starts until the moment it ends."
|
In a recent interview, Frank Darabont revealed (when he wrote a rough draft of Indiana Jones 4 IV in 2003) that it was his idea to see Marion Ravenwood again:
"That was, by the way, my suggestion. Let's bring Marion back. I'm taking full credit for that. I don't wanna hear **** from anyone else. That was my idea. Thank you very much."
It should be noted that Steven Spielberg accepted Darabont's script, but it was rejected by George Lucas, who created Indiana Jones.
John Hurt (who will be appearing in Indiana Jones 4 IV) had the following interview with Empire Magazine:
"I've done the odd scene with Shia [LaBeouf]. He's a very good young actor indeed and a very nice guy too. And working with Steven [Spielberg] is wonderful. It feels like I've worked with him many, many times before and I never have."
"Well, I'm not allowed to tell you about my character - it's under tight control for good reason. It's not meant to be 'boo to you' type of thing - it's because it makes sense . . . and it wouldn't help you to know what I was playing anyway."
"My motto all the way through my life has been that if something stands the chance of succeeding on the level that it is intended to succeed on, then it's worth having a look at. And nobody could possibly say that this series has not absolutely fulfilled its intentions."
|
Shia LaBeouf and Ray Winstone are playing the role of sidekick characters to Indiana Jones in the new Indiana Jones movie. LaBeouf's character is rumored to be named either "Mutt" or "Matt." LaBeouf is suppose to be Indy Jones' biological son so his full name could be "Matthew Jones." Current speculation claims that Winstone's Indiana Jones 4 IV character is named "Mac."

Comic Con fans entered Hall H in San Diego to get a preview of new movie productions. The Indiana Jones 4 IV cast made a live appearance via a satellite feed:
Steven Spielberg (SS): Comic-Con, how is everybody over there?! I’m here on the set of Indiana Jones and the [strategic bleeping] and I’m just extraordinarily pleased to be able to tell you that after 18 years, we actually have completed 25 days of shooting. I never thought this day would come, when I can actually sit here and say we’re finally making another Indiana Jones movie. It’s thrilling and we’re having a great time and for the last ten or twelve or thirteen years I’ve made a lot of different kinds of movies, many of them films that I really passionately needed to make for myself. But this picture, I promise you, I’m making for you guys and girls – I’m doing it for all the fans of the series.
And we’re back and we’re all in good form – I think we’re all in good form – I’m in good form – [camera swings to Harrison Ford] – Indiana Jones ladies and gentlemen!
Harrison Ford (HF): It’s a great pleasure to be back with Steven, back in the sweaty dirty clothes that Indy always wears, and glad to be making a dynamite movie. I’m so happy about this movie and the people we have in it – I want to introduce my sidekick, the venerable, veritable, Ray Winstone, who is my sidekick in this film and I’m glad to have the comfort of his companionship [laughs].
SS: He also plays Beowulf in Bob Zemeckis’ film…
Ray Winstone: I play the good looking one, the romantic interest…
HF: He thinks he’s playing the good looking one in this film too…that’s the good looking one – that’s my other sidekick [motions to Shia LaBeouf]
Shia LaBeouf (SL): Hi Comic-Con, I’m Shia, and I don’t know what I’m doing in this movie – it’s happenstance. I’m sitting here with all of you…this is insane.
SS: You have a modicum of talent young man – and a huge hit movie called Transformers. Although we cast him before it was a hit – we took a big chance on this kid [laughs]. We’re all here and there are a lot of other cast members working today so this is who you get. There’s just one more thing, if I could…you guys just fill in [moves off camera].
SL: So this is where we fill in…
[Spielberg places a chair marked “Marion Ravenwood” in the center of the group]
SS: Ladies and gentlemen, Marion Ravenwood!
Karen Allen (KA): It’s great to be here on the set of this new Indiana Jones adventure and great to be back in the boots of Marion Ravenwood and I’m just thrilled to be working with Steven and Harrison and Shia and Ray…
SS: …and Cate Blanchett…
KA: …so Comic-Con is getting the first peek at us all together as a family.
SS: A reborn family, a little older and a lot wiser…and a little richer [laughs].
We’re really happy to be here and like I said before, this is for all of you and we’re making this picture with every single one of you in mind. For every single shot, I’m always thinking, how are you going to respond, what’s the audience going to think? So thank you very, very much!

Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall (producers involved with making Indiana Jones 4 IV) held a news press conference from a hotel in Hawaii. About Harrison Ford: "I have to say, he looks amazing. He looks fantastic in the outfit. He's doing them, he just has a few more ice packs and a few more massages," said Kathleen Kennedy, the Indy 4 IV film co-executive producer with George Lucas, the multi-billionaire creator of Star Wars. "And a lot of Celebrex. We're having a great time. It's so much fun being together. Nobody's worried about their careers any more," producer Frank Marshall extorted.
Indy Jones 4 IV's most massive action sequences are being filmed in Hawaii by Steven Spielberg and crew. The state of Hawaii will be the setting for nearly 20 percent of the film's running time. Approximately half of this screen time will be from movie sets created in Los Angeles, California, USA. Spielberg has already finished the first of three weeks of movie production in Hawaii. The first week has been spent on filming battle sequences in a private lot located in the Shipman area.
In the second week, the Indy 4 IV production begins filming at a waterfall on the Hamakua coast, which will serve as a South American rain forest. The Indy 4 IV production crew is comprised of approximately 400 people, with 125 or so of these from Hawaii and dozens of special effects and stunts experts. About 25 to 30 people are part of the stunt crew, working on the Big Island part of the filming. One special scene involves a custom designed vehicle going over a waterfall. This particular stunt will cost over $ 1 million U.S. dollars to create. Filming in Hawaii should be over between July 21 and July 24.

Will any of these Soviet-era warriors be from the legendary Spetsnaz Russian special forces?

Indiana Jones 4 IV producer Frank Marshall told the New Haven Register that there will be very little computer animation in Indy Jones 4 IV.
Marshall claimed: "Steven is very aware of the process and we're not cheating with CG at all. It keeps the B movie feel."
After filming at the Steam Train, the Indiana Jones 4 IV production now heads to Hawaii.

It is rumored that actor John Hurt may be playing the role of Abner Ravenwood (the father of Marion Ravenwood) in Indiana Jones 4 IV.
|
The Hawaii Tribune-Herald newspaper posted on its web site that:
"While secrecy has surrounded the project, the fourth installment of the Indiana Jones adventure series will film here for three weeks in August. Location shooting will take place along the Hamakua Coast and Lucasfilm has opened a production office in Hilo. There is no word yet on any casting call or other local production hires."

There are new rumors about the opening action sequence of Indiana Jones 4 IV. Apparently, the new Indy film may not open at Area 51, the famous U.S. Military base in Nevada. Instead, the next Indy movie might open at a World War 2 atomic bomb testing facility.

IndianaJones.com (the official Indiana Jones 4 IV web site) posted info indicating that Sean Connery will not be coming back as Indiana Jones’ father in the fourth Indy movie. This message was posted by the official web site from Connery:
"I get asked the question so often, I thought it best to make an announcement. I thought long and hard about it and if anything could have pulled me out of retirement it would have been an Indiana Jones film. I love working with Steven and George, and it goes without saying that it is an honor to have Harrison as my son. But in the end, retirement is just too ****** much fun. I, do however, have one bit of advice for Junior: Demand that the critters be digital, the cliffs be low, and for goodness sake keep that whip by your side at all times in case you need to escape from the stunt coordinator! This is a remarkable cast, and I can only say, 'Break a leg, everyone.' I'll see you on May 22, 2008 at the theater!"
Ray Winstone and John Hurt have joined the Indiana Jones 4 IV cast.
Shia LaBeouf, who is playing the role of Indiana Jones‘ biological son in Indiana Jones 4 IV, gave these quotes about working on Indiana Jones 4 IV:
"Well, you don't make any demands from Steven Spielberg. You just go, 'Yeah? Alright, great. That sounds like a good thing to me.' [George] Lucas isn't as involved as Spielberg with the actors. I mean, it's all Steven, but I mean I don't imagine that I would be questioning anything that he says. Of course you have to find your voice as the artist. You're the tool and you have to have some say, but I don't imagine that it's going to be very easy to say, 'You know what, Steven, I don't think that's correct. I think that I should do it this way.' So, I don't know. We're still trying to figure it out. We haven't gotten into any rehearsals. It's just been a lot of stunt rehearsals and a lot of weapons training and things like that."
"I mean I don't know what I'm going to be. I could be playing a train conductor. Who knows? Well let's see you have Sean Connery and Harrison Ford. Chances are you're going to be in trouble. I'm imaging there will be some sort of creature crawling on me throughout the movie"

The Seattle Times newspaper published an article stating why Steven Spielberg (the director of Indiana Jones 4 IV) and mega multi-billionaire George Lucas are willing to revisit the Indiana Jones movie franchise. DreamWorks co-chairman Stacey Snider claims David Koepp's "Indiana Jones 4" script is the main reason for making a fourth Indiana Jones film:
"It was the best script we saw all year — by far. To me, it's not so much a sequel as an affectionate reprise of a beloved character and his story. It has much more in common with the feeling you had when the 'Star Wars' movies were coming back than what you feel about a lot of sequels, which is, 'How do I wring one more dollar out of the franchise?' "

The Morning Call posted the following quote from Steven Spielberg, the director of Indiana Jones 4 IV:
''I think he [Shia LaBeouf] thought I was going to call him in to punish him for something he did in one of the two movies he did for DreamWorks. He walked in my office like he was walking into the principal's. He came in looking all hang dog.”
After Spielberg offered Shia an important role as Indiana Jones’ son, Spielberg says: ''I thought that young man was going to drop dead of a heart attack in my office.''
Shia LaBeouf can be seen in the live-action movie adaptation of the Transformers (extraterrestrial robots invading Earth) in July 2007.

The official Formula One racing web site released a brief interview with George Lucas. According to Lucas, the film production for Indiana Jones 4 IV will begin next week. Lucas stated:
“I caught the racing bug when I was 14 years old and I have been following Formula One ever since. Probably unusual for an American, but there you go. What fascinates me most is the speed and the accuracy, especially here in Monaco where sometimes centimeters make the difference between do or die. I plan to go to Indianapolis as well, if my schedule permits it, as I start shooting Indiana Jones 4 IV next week. If the production is running as planned, you will find me there.”
