Is there any chance of you making Steven Brust’s books into movies? You have the technology necessary to show all the stuff in the books and there is basically a script already there so you could keep focused on your forte: making a movie using sound. Just a brief summary of the series set in the fantasy world of "Drageara,” assuming you’ve never read Brust’s books. It is a world where people use magic and swords and stuff like that. Humans like us are the minority and are called "Easterners" and "Dragaerans" are in power in that world.
They average at about 8 feet tall and cannot grow facial hair like Humans and most do not show muscle, even if he or she is very strong. The characters actually meet the gods of that world on many occasions and there are many strange creatures that inhabit that world. This would be good because of your other strong point: telling a story with good visuals. I thank you for your time, Mr. Lucas, and I beg you to post. I am interested in your response.
George Lucas: The one thing you should know about myself and Lucasfilm is that we only create films based on my original ideas. I do not make films based on the work of other people like Steven Brust. I pride myself on being able to write my own feelings and observations in my scripts. Drageara sounds an awful lot like Willow. I’ve already tried the fantasy genre, in the same vein as the Lord of the Rings, and didn’t have any success. I guess with the emergence of Harry Potter, the Lord of the Rings and the Chronicles of Narnia that the fantasy genre as finally matured as a film concept. Willow was an idea that was about twenty years ahead of its time. Thanks again for suggesting that I convert Brust’s world into film, but I’m not interested for the reasons already mentioned.
Dear Mr. Lucas, I have been a huge Star Wars fan since I saw Star Wars Episode 1. You are my favorite director of making movies. The Star Wars movies are my favorite films of all time. I really do like the action in the movies. I was wondering in Star Wars Episode 3 would Obi-Wan be able to talk to Qui-Gon Jinn would Qui-Gon look any different? I also read the scripts for Star Wars 7, 8 and 9.They are great. Please answer my question soon. Thanks!
George Lucas: If Obi-Wan were able to see the ghost of Qui-Gon, the Qui-Gon ghost would look exactly the way Qui-Gon looked when he was killed by Darth Maul on Naboo. Jedi spirits do not age or change in any way. Thanks for the kind words about the next Star Wars trilogy. SuperShadow and I spent many years working on the plot summaries for Episode 7 to 9. We really poured our hearts into these synopsis and have really done our best work ever. I’m very thankful to have Shadow as my best friend. He is so selfless and does so much work for the Star Wars fandom in general. We are lucky to be alive at the same time as SuperShadow.
Hey George, I love your films. You rule. Dude, I just got one question. In Episode 3 at Padme’s funeral. Is the actress who played Zam Wesell in the funeral procession?
George Lucas: No, you are referring to Leeanna Walsman, who portrayed the bounty-hunter Zam Wesell in Attack of the Clones. Leeanna is a fantastic actress and one of the most talented people I have ever worked with. She did such a marvelous job in Attack of the Clones. However, Leeanna has no involvement with Revenge of the Sith.
Hello GL, I was just wondering if there will be a Nautolon, like Kit Fisto, on the new Jedi Council in the 3rd trilogy? Episode 3 was the best movie I have ever seen (just thought I’d throw that in!)
George Lucas: When SuperShadow and I created the script summaries for the sequel trilogy, we did not include every single detail that will appear in the actual, full scripts. I can tell you that Luke Skywalker, Mara Jade and Princess Leia are all definitely on the Jedi Council during Episode 7. The other members of the Jedi Council will be characters that will be created by Shadow and the fans when you create the scripts for Episode 7 to 9. I’m really glad you enjoyed Revenge of the Sith. Shadow and I had the time of our life writing that script. The prequel trilogy ended on a thunderous high that will be hard to duplicate, but I’m confident that Episode 7 will be the best Star Wars film of all time because it will be based primarily on the genius of SuperShadow.
Dear Mister Lucas, could you please answer me these two questions. The scene in the end of Return of the Jedi where Luke Skywalker sees the ghosts of Anakin, Obi-Wan and Yoda always reminded me of the Holy Bible passage about Jesus’ transfiguration, where Jesus was seen standing with Moses and Elijah. Is there a connection? Also, do you think that the toppling of Saddam Hussein’s statue in Iraq was inspired by the toppling of Palpatine’s statue in the added scene in the end of the Return of the Jedi movie? Thanks!
George Lucas: The idea to have the Jedi ghosts appear at the end of Return of the Jedi came from one of the science-fiction film serials I saw as a kid in the theatre. That serial had an important character to return as a ghost and provide advice to the main protagonist. I thought this would be a great way to bring Obi-Wan back for The Empire Strikes Back. Having Anakin, Obi-Wan and Yoda appear as ghosts at the end of Return of the Jedi was something I was keen on doing to show that the Jedi had returned from the abyss. The toppling of a dictator’s statue is nothing new. Every time a dictator is ousted the first thing people do is destroy anything that has the image of that dictator. So I have to admit that the people of Iraq were not influenced by Return of the Jedi. In fact, most of the citizens of Iraq have never even heard of Star Wars.
Hi George Lucas, I love Star Wars. It’s the best movies in the world. My name is Chad Clements and just wanted to say you are the best movie creator. Chad Clements.
George Lucas: I thought I would post your comment even though you don’t provide us with a witty comment or some kind of unfathomable question about Star Wars. I get thousands of people telling me each day that I’m the best film director of all time and that they love Star Wars. I just wanted to take a second to post one of these compliments in order to honor all the fans who do so much for me and Star Wars. We depend on the fans to keep Lucasfilm in business. Without the generosity of the fans, we would have to shut down our enterprise. I can never thank the fans enough for all that they do. Thanks to all of you from the bottom of my heart. I love you beyond what words can portray.
Dear Mr. Lucas, I would just like to say I love the Star Wars saga. They are brilliant. I also have 2 questions. 1. Who are the new members of the Jedi Council in Episode 7 and 2. why has Luke Skywalker got rid of the old Jedi code and changed it for his own so he can do what he wants really? Thanks for taking time out of your work to read this. Thanks. Yours sincerely, Darren May
George Lucas: The one thing that the prequels definitely proved was that the old Jedi Code was not workable and actually harmed the integrity of the Jedi Order. It was a mistake not to allow the Jedi to possess things and to love other individuals enough to get married. Luke was smart enough to recognize all the errors made by Yoda and all the other Jedi that followed the old Jedi Code. Luke wanted to create a new Jedi Order that would last for a thousand generations. Hence, Luke completely changed the Jedi Code to permit the ownership of property and the ability to fall in love and get married.
I have a Star Wars TV episode idea for the show of Star Wars like just basically how Yoda is doing at Dagobah like Yoda building his house and making food. I think it will be good. Him going to a wise master to a clumsy guy like in The Empire Strikes Back. I think it would be a funny episode and I always wondered what did Yoda do on the planet. And I think Dash Rendar should be in the Episode 7, 8 and 9 movies. Rendar’s a kool character and Kyle Katarn too. And who’s your favorite out of Han, Dash and Kyle. Me, I love them all. Who would win Dash vs. Han and in a dogfight and Han vs. Indy and what ever happened to your dog named Indiana? Do you miss him? Thanx a bunch if you answer them. MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!
George Lucas: You have a really good idea for the Star Wars TV shows. Unfortunately, Yoda will have no role in the live-action Star Wars TV series. If you are to find out what Yoda did in between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, it will have to be explored in the expanded-universe novels and comic books. Han Solo is my favorite out of the characters you mention because I created Han. Han could defeat Dash in both a fist fight and a dog fight. Han Solo is perhaps the best pilot of his generation. Indiana Jones could probably beat Han in a fight. I really do miss my dog Indiana. We had so many entertaining adventures together. I expect to be reunited with Indiana in Heaven.
Mr. Lucas, have you created a Star Wars universe down to every minute detail? Jon.
George Lucas: No, I don’t have any interest in spending the rest of my life working on Star Wars. J.R.R. Tolkien spent decades mapping out every small detail about Middle-Earth and the entire history of the Lord of the Rings world. To each his own. I don’t have any desire to create information about Star Wars similar to what Tolkien did with his creations. The best you can hope for is what is revealed in the expanded universe of novels, comic books and video games. Those sources do not represent my true vision of Star Wars, but that’s the best you’re ever going to get as far as learning the small details about the Star Wars galaxy.
Dear Mr. Lucas, I've been thinking a lot about the light and dark sides of the Force. As yourself and SuperShadow have pointed out several times, the dark side will be obliterated from existence in Episode 9. My question is: Is it still possible for a Jedi to do evil by drawing energy from the light side? What I mean is, a Jedi who works to protect and serve but does so by fighting against the Republic believing that the Republic is evil. You said it yourself in the documentary about Darth Vader in the DVD box set of the classic trilogy that the most evil people think that they’re doing good. Now, I do’'t mean to sound standoffish or critical. I just want to know if it’s possible or not. One more thing, what ever happened to Durge? Did he really die in the Clone Wars because the cartoon wasn’t that convincing in his death. If he’s still alive, I think it would be really awesome for Durge to reprise his role as swoop leader maybe leading a squad of Mandalorians against the Republic in Episode 8? Thanks for your time. C
George Lucas: What a remarkable question you pose. Very insightful and well thought out. From a technical perspective after Episode 9, the Force cannot be utilized for evil. This means that the Sith and Dark Jedi have no Force powers at all. Moreover, a light side Jedi will not be able to harness the power of the Force to overthrow the new Jedi Order or the New Republic. It will be up to the Force to determine if the Jedi has an evil intent. If a Jedi is unable to tap into the Force, then that Jedi will realize that their intentions are really nefarious and should be abandoned immediately. I don’t have any info about the final fate of Durge. Durge is not my creation. To find a satisfactory answer to your query, you would need to contact the creators of the Clone Wars animated shorts. You many not be able to reach them so there may be no definitive answer to what you seek.

Dear George, I have a suggestion for future Star Wars releases (Blu Ray or whatever). Have 2 different options to choose from for the commentary. As much as I like hearing how the special effects were done and stuff by producers and such, I would much rather listen to you completely talking about the story, the special effects that were used and maybe even the struggle you had to go thru. In Return of the Jedi, it was a little frustrating for me because on the commentary, the final confrontation between Luke, Vader and Sidious on the death star was more talk about how the lightning bolts were created and such. I would have loved to just hear you talk about the story in depth. I love your stories tremendously. Jonathan.
George Lucas: The problem we have with the audio commentaries for the DVD products is that it is hard for one person to talk for two hours and a half about Star Wars. We generally have 3 or 4 speakers who help to fill out the audio commentary. In the future, we could separate these commentaries and run them separately. I could have one commentary just to myself talking about the story development or why we did certain things in a weird way. Thanks for your contribution. I will send your idea to the people at Lucas Licensing to see if they think it is feasible for me to do a DVD audio commentary all by myself. I would need enough material to read for over 2 hours. I guess this would give fans a definitive answer as to what really happened behind closed doors.
First of all me, my friends and my 7 year old nephew are huge Star Wars fans we loved both sagas and we'd love to see more, that is what brings me to here. I have heard rumors that Mr. Lucas has decided to make the next trilogy Episodes 7, 8 & -9 and I want to know if the rumors are true, because if they are that would be the bomb. Thanks P.S. Is there a winged Jedi (or a race) like and angel or something like that?
George Lucas: Yes, the next trilogy is definitely going to happen. SuperShadow will be in charge of the production of Episode 7, 8 & 9. The dreams of the fans of having Shadow in control of Star Wars have finally come true. The mega genius that helped me create the incredible prequel trilogy, will now be unleashed on the sequel trilogy. Shadow and the fans will be in charge of hiring the directors, composers and producers for the new trilogy. Under the leadership of SuperShadow, Star Wars has entered its golden age. Shadow is the best thing to ever happen to Star Wars.
Hey George, I’m a real big Star Wars fan from Texas and I was wondering how old will Luke Skywalker will be in the next new trilogies of Episode 7 - 9? And also who is stronger Luke or Anakin? I love your movies. Keep up the great work.
George Lucas: By the time we begin work on Episode 7, Mark Hamill will be in his sixties. He will be around the perfect age to play the venerable Jedi Master and head of the Jedi Council. Luke Skywalker will be at his complete zenith of power. Luke is much, much stronger than Anakin. Thanks for your warms words they have touched me deeply.
Dear Lord Lucas, I read just few days ago about a person who asked when the next Episodes would be available in Theatres. I believe your response was: "Not until the year 2021." Please tell me I don’t have to wait until then to watch the next installment. Won’t you and other key actors be well overdue by then (if you get my meaning)? Also what you and Shadow do if something happened to one of the original actors like Mark Hamill or Carrie Fisher or even Harrison Ford? I like to think that my grandfather ( 72 years old) who enjoys all six Episodes will still be alive when the next three come out.
George Lucas: Making the next trilogy is a difficult undertaking. The computer special effects needed for the films are not sophisticated enough to capture the vision that SuperShadow and I have for the films. There are aspects of the new films that are far beyond current digital animation. When technology catches up with our vision, then we will be able to begin work on Episode 7. All the actors will be about the right ages for their parts. I see no problem with regards to using Mark, Carrie and Harrison in the next trilogy.
Dear Mr. Lucas, I am a big fan of Star Wars and thank you for such a wonderful trilogy. I can never get enough of Star Wars. Now my question is are there any other color of light-saber blades the Sith use beside red? Do they have black or any dark color? You would really make my day if you answer me. And once again congratulations on your success you really deserve everything you got because you worked hard and never gave up. Thank you.
George Lucas: Traditionally, the Sith have used red-bladed light sabers exclusively for several millennia. There might have been one or two rebels that used a black blade or darker-color blade, but those Sith didn’t live too long. Thanks for sending in your positive words. Perseverance and never giving up has made me the success I am today.
Hi Mr. Lucas, I just would like to say I love Stat Wars. I was wondering if there were going to be any movies about the Yuuzhan Vong?
George Lucas: No, the Yuuzhan Vong are an expanded universe creation that I’m not going to borrow for the films or for the Star Wars TV shows. In my perfect vision, the Yuuzhan Vong do not even exist.
Hi George, I was wondering in Episode 4: Why did Owen Lars not remember C-3PO when he used to work on the farm in Episode 2? Also what happened to Anakin’s gold arm in Episode 2, in Episode 3 it’s like some sort black glove? Your dedicated fan. Josh.
George Lucas: Many factors might have caused Owen Lars to forget about C-3PO. Owen had grown old and perhaps just forgotten about the droid. There are so many gold protocol droids around the galaxy that Owen has no clue that he had stumbled upon Anakin’s C-3PO. Anakin’s gold arm is replaced with something a lot more sophisticated.
Hello George, and thank you for the Star Wars movies. I just wanted to know, why can’t you release a box, which includes all six Star Wars movies? I know SS said that there wouldn’t be markets for the six pack. But when I first heard that you were going to make the Episodes 1 - 3, I started to wait to get all the six movies in one box. So basically I've waited now about 9 years and I'm still waiting. I have the original version of classic trilogy on VHS, but I don't have any Star Wars on DVD. I'm now 27 years old. I'm a very patient guy and I will wait for the six pack, until the day I die. So could help me just a little and tell me when you're going to release all the movies in one box? The waiting without knowing the date is very frustrating. Anyway thank you for the best fantasy story ever.
George Lucas: Thanks for your warm words about Star Wars. It means so much to me. Currently, there are no plans by Lucasfilm to release all six Star Wars films in one deluxe box set. The market for Star Wars DVDs has been completely saturated. 99% of potential buyers already own the DVDs. Your best hope is for us to release a 6 film box set for the emerging entertainment formats like HD DVD and Blu-Ray. You will probably never see all six films in one package on the old DVD technology.
Hey George. I read where you said Episode 7, 8 and 9 are all gonna be filmed at the same time. So does this still mean you’ll release them 3 years apart?
George Lucas: Well, we plan to shoot all three sequel films back to back to back. However, the sophisticated special effects shots will take many, many years to finish. We will still release the films three years apart even if we do complete them early. It may take 3 or 4 years of work on the special effects to complete each film.
Hi, I’m a big fan of yours. I want to know who are your greatest influence in literature. Who are some of the best Star Wars writers today because im interested in reading some of them, just like I did from the Indiana Jones ones. And one more thing, I would like to see Indy 4 soon, please kinda move it, or I’'ll wait if you give us the plot right now. Or at lease an artifact it involves or place. Thanks Eldad. P.S. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE POST
George Lucas: Most of the authors who influenced my films have been science fiction and fantasy writer from the 1930's all the way up to the late 1960's. Star Wars borrowed many aspects from the stories I read. In my astute opinion, all the Star Wars writers are excellent in their field. I don’t have time to read the books, but the few fans who read the books really seem to enjoy them. I guess Timothy Zahn is probably the biggest favorite of the fans right now. I can’t reveal any info about Indiana Jones 4 at this time. I can say that SuperShadow and I have been working on the Indiana Jones 4 script nonstop for many weeks now. We are creating the most amazing adventure story. Indy 4 is much more elaborate and complex than the previous Indy films. Shadow is at the top of his game and we will all reap the benefits of his massive, near-infinite genius.

I was wondering, Mr. Lucas, was there actually ever a Darth Plagueis? Or did Sidious just make it up in order to give Anakin the impression that it was possible to cheat death? If Sidious did make it up, is there even any way to save people from death? Thanks!
George Lucas: This is a very clever question. We don’t actually have any evidence that Darth Plagueis ever existed. The fact that Sidious tells stories about Plagueis does not mean that Plagueis was real. We never see Plagueis on film or in pictures. No flashbacks reveal what he looked like if Plagueis were in existence. In actuality, the full story is that Sidious was an apprentice under Darth Plagueis. Sith tend to always betray each other. As soon as Sidious believed Plagueis had taught Sidious all he needed to know, Sidious betrayed and killed Plagueis. This is the secret of Sidious’ real deception with Anakin.
Mr. Lucas, first, I would like to start out with a huge thanks for creating Star Wars! I have been a fan all of my life (or at least since I can remember) and was the one to spark Star Wars fandom in most of my friends lives. I have a few questions, if you don’t mind answering them. 1) What is your favorite light-saber blade color? 2) If it weren't for Mace Windu taunting Anakin, attempting to kill Palpatine in front of him, and if he would have granted Anakin the right to Jedi Master so Anakin could see his own mistakes in a Padawan, would Anakin have been so easily turned to the dark side? 3) And what is Palpatine's first name?
My friends and I have wondered that for a long time, have watched the films over and over to see if we can find out and we never found anything. Also, I have wondered for a while, are you a Christian? I am. I have thought of Star Wars in a Christian way for a while and thought about how Anakin was once on the light side, turned to the dark side and was turned back to the light side in the end. I think of this as no matter how far you stray away from God, it is never too late to come back to Him. I’m sorry this is kind of long. I would appreciate it if you would answer these questions. Once again, thank you so much. Star Wars has a huge impact on my life. Luke is the best, Cody.
George Lucas: I would like to take a second to tell you what a great fan you are. You are a real inspiration to all of us. Your enthusiasm for Star Wars is infectious. We need many more fans just like you. Blue-bladed light sabers are my favorite kind of light saber. If Windu had treated Anakin with more respect, then Anakin might have been more willing to go along with Windu’s plan to exterminate Sidious. However, Sidious was the one who was always flattering Anakin and telling Anakin that he had unlimited potential. So when it came time for Anakin to pick sides, Anakin went with the guy that treated him the best. It’s tragic that Windu failed to stop the Sith because Anakin was not a fan of Windu.
Palpatine’s first name is Dantius. This was released on SuperShadow.com many eons ago. Yes, I am a very devout Christian. I attend church four times a week. I place a crisp ten dollar bill in the plate they pass around for donations. I pray constantly for the success of my ideas. I always hope that God guides me to make the best possible films. God really hit it out of the park with Revenge of the Sith. I give God and SuperShadow the major credit for the mammoth success of Revenge of the Sith. I guess the story of Anakin is about the idea that it is never too late for redemption. You can always put your life in order if you really want to.
Dear Mr. Lucas, Star Wars is the best saga on the whole planet! I thank you for making such a great film series. I like collecting Star Wars merchandise. All of the items are quite durable. I only have a few questions to ask you. Did Master Yoda know Anakin Skywalker would turn to the dark side of the Force? Why weren’t planets from Episode 4, 5 and 6 in the prequel trilogy? Last but not least, will www.supershadow.com have the details for auditions for Episodes 7, 8 and 9? Please post and answer! Good Luck!
George Lucas: Thanks for purchasing the Star Wars collectibles. Your buying power gives us the necessary funds to create the upcoming Star Wars TV shows. We couldn’t finance these TV series without the fans’ support. Yoda had no clue that Anakin was on the edge of falling to the dark side. Yoda is taken by complete surprise. So few Jedi have ever succumbed to the dark side that it is always difficult for Yoda to believe one has fallen. If Yoda could have sensed Anakin was in danger, Yoda would’ve taken Anakin under his wing and protected Anakin from the dark forces. The problem is that Yoda had no idea that Palpatine was the Sith Master who was going to seduce Anakin to the dark side. Sidious’ genius completely took Yoda and all the Jedi by surprise. The incompetence of Yoda and the other Jedi leaders led directly to the collapse of the Old Republic and the entire Jedi Order.
When you make a new trilogy like the prequels, you want to create new environments and planets for the characters to interact on so that things do not become extremely boring. Tatooine, Naboo and Coruscant appear in the old films. Even though we only get a glimpse of Naboo and Coruscant. Anyway, for the prequel trilogy, I wanted my conceptual artists to come up with the most amazing and exotic alien worlds possible. We spend a lot of money on just creating the right planets. If you would read the Star Wars Plot Formula section of SuperShadow.com, you would find that I always introduce new planets in each subsequent film. I had scenes on Tatooine for the prequel trilogy because it is probably the single most important planet regarding the Star Wars saga.
Yes, SuperShadow will definitely post the times and locations of the auditions as he and his large staff transverse the world in search of the best acting talent the fans have to offer. Get ready now and you will have a good shot at getting a role in one of the sequel films. Episode 7, 8 and 9 will be here in a flash. Time flies by much too fast for my tastes.
Hey George, I keep reading posts about Obi-Wan being so great (which he is) for defeating Grievous, but it was only as easy as it was because of Mace Windu doing the, well, I’m not sure what it’s called, but I’ll just say Force crunch or Force squeeze. Windu used this to make Grievous a lot weaker during the Clone Wars cartoon, so Grievous wasn't near his best against Obi-Wan. I wish more fans were aware of this as I am, since I love the cartoon. You picked the perfect people to create it. It is in your vision of Star Wars, right? Anyway, I guess you can say Windu had a part in the defeat of Grievous. Please post! P.S. Mace Windu rocks. He is my favorite character by far. You have done a great job creating all your characters, but especially him! So, thank you!
George Lucas: Well, many fans don’t know that Windu severely weakened Grievous in the Clone Wars cartoon shorts. So few people watched those animated shows that you can’t blame the fans for not knowing about the history between Windu and Grievous. The Clone Wars TV show does not represent my vision of Star Wars. The stories were not written by me. I had little to do with the creation of that series. I left it in the hands of some very talented writers and animators. Again, I agree with your assessment that Windu gave Obi-Wan an assist in defeating Grievous. Of course, the will of the Force was with Obi-Wan so he had no way to lose against Grievous.
Master Lucas! I have a few questions for you. Hope you have time and energy enough to answer it. The first question: It is about the expanded universe. In these interviews, some time ago I read that you don't think that ancient Sith Lords like Darth Revan, Marka Ragnos, Exar Kun, Darth Trayus and so on exist because they don't exist in your vision of Star Wars. So much have I understood, but you also say that everything that is on SS.com is real Star Wars and exists in your vision of Star Wars. But if you read about the Sith War 4,000 years before The Phantom Menace in History of the Jedi and Sith section on SS.com, you see that all the famous Sith Lords from the games, comics and so on is with on SS.com.
So do they exist in your vision of Star Wars (it's okay for me whatever you answer, but I would be happiest if you answered with yes). Question two. Does the cartoon Clone Wars series exist in your vision of Star Wars? Just want to know what you think of it. Question three. I've asked this questions many times now, but it’s okay. But how does a Jawa look under the cloak? I just love Jawas. Question four. I've heard that eventually, SS will also make Episode X - XII. But if the dark side is destroyed forever in Episode IX, how would it be possible to make more Star Wars movies that is after Episode IX?
Question five. In many LucasArts games, there is a Jedi Knight called Kyle Katarn in the New Republic. And in a book series called Young Jedi Knights, there is some friends to Jaina and Jacen Solo called Tenel Ka, Raynar and Lowbacca (Lowbacca is a Wookiee). Could Kyle, Tenel Ka, Raynar and Lowbacca be with in next trilogy? P.S. I've written to you before. Thanks for answering me that time. I was the "loyal fan in Sweden" that together with a friend have created a Star Wars fan club called The Jawas.
George Lucas: You are so exuberant for Star Wars with so many wonderful questions. Let’s take each one by itself in order submitted. Yes, the Sith contained in the History of the Jedi and Sith section of SuperShadow.com are official and represent my true vision of Star Wars. Everything on SS.com comes from me. It’s all my creation. That’s why SS.com is so reliable and trustworthy.
I just answered the question about the Clone Wars TV shorts. They don’t represent my vision of Star Wars as explained previously. I thought those animated shorts were very well done. The few fans that watched them seemed to have really enjoyed the series. Jawas are extremely hideous under their masks. They look like their faces have been boiled in acidic oil compounds. Truly frightening. In Episode 10, the Republic faces a new kind of enemy that is based on dark energy/dark matter. They’re even worse than the dark side. None of the characters you mention will have a role in the sequel trilogy. Those characters aren’t very popular. Nobody has even heard of them. Thanks again for being such a positive fan. You make my life golden. Thanks for everything.
Mr. Lucas, a big hello from a big fan in the UK! Where do you plan to shoot the Star Wars TV series? US? UK? Oz? (Now I'm not biased because I work in television production in the UK or anything (wink), but you should shoot in the UK. It’s the spiritual home of Star Wars. Think of the beautiful climate!) My goal is to get into film and television development/writing. How energising is it to go into a room, sit down and just thrash out ideas for something that no one is stupid enough to turn down? Such creative control must be phenomenal, right? Nowadays I'm hearing a lot of 'Nos' and "come back another day" so hearing about your early days as a film maker and then seeing what you've accomplished is truly inspirational! Best of luck with future projects Mr. Lucas. Lee.
George Lucas: The computer-animated Star Wars TV show will be written in the United States and actually created in our animation studio in Asia. The live-action Star Wars TV series will be written in the United States and probably filmed in Sydney, Australia because of the favorable money exchange rates they have down under. I don’t have fond memories of my days filming Star Wars in the U.K. The British film crew was impossible to work with. The droids never would work. It was a total nightmare without end.
I’m ecstatic that you find my life inspirational. In the old days, I use to get my ideas rejected all the time. Every studio in town except 20th Century Fox turned down my idea for Star Wars. I was lucky I even got to make Star Wars. Now my life is perfect because I am a truly independent film maker who can finance my own films and I never have to take advice from the studios on how to make my films. This is one of the best aspects of my life: The total freedom to be me.
Dear GL, I was just pondering something, why not have Luke Skywalker’s original actor (Mark Hamill) come back for Episode 7, 8 and 9? Isn’t it set for 30 years after, even if he looks way too old still, he would obviously be perfect for the job, aged and strong with the Force. This is what needs to be done.
George Lucas: I’ve already approached Mark about making the next trilogy. Mark is really receptive and looks forward to return to film as Luke. Mark has had a difficult life. His film career took a nose dive while Harrison was breaking box-office records. It’s a shame that Mark has had such a horrible, near-meaningless life outside of Star Wars. Working with me is basically all the success Mark has ever had. He is in my prayers. I pity him greatly.
I was wondering, what May is for you? All your Star Wars films come to the cinemas nearly or on 19 of May. Is this important for you, as you want to release Episode 7 on May as your other films? Deadlydrunkenman from Russia.
George Lucas: People suggest that it was my first choice to release A New Hope in May. That’s far from the truth. Back in the 1970's, May was a dead month for films. The films expected to do weak business were released in May. In 1977, the film that everybody thought was going to be a hit was Damnation Alley. That film got a summer release just like all films expected to do well in cinemas. Star Wars almost came out at Christmas 1976, but we couldn’t finish the special effects in time. I wanted A New Hope to get a summer release so that the fans would take it seriously.
Having your film released in May reveals to the public that the studio has no faith in your film. So I was forced to release A New Hope in late May. Now it makes me look like a genius because the summer season now actually begins the first week of May. Some of the biggest films like X-Men 3, Mission: Impossible 3 and The DiVinci Code all have May releases. So inadvertently Star Wars changed Hollywood. It was never planned. I didn’t expect it to happen, but Star Wars has ended up being the most influential film franchise of all time. It blows my mind to think about it. I cannot fathom why Star Wars is so successful.
Hi Mr. Lucas! Jose from Puerto Rico. First of all, I would like you to know that me and my six years old son are your biggest fans in this island! We own all six movies and countless of games for the X-box. (We REALLY enjoy LEGO Star Wars and we can’t wait for LEGO Star Wars 2). I wanted to know what was OBI-WAN referring to when he said to Darth Vader: "if you strike me down I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine." Is that possible for a Jedi to return from dead and defeat someone? Any chance on Dash Rendar appearing in Episodes 7, 8 & 9? Think about it Dash, Han and Lando doing some stuff together to help the Jedi destroy the dark side. Pretty much like Han & Lando did to destroy the death star?
George Lucas: You really made my heart skip a beat by telling me about all the Star Wars products you purchase. Keep buying. Never stop. Make them ban you from the store because you come there so often to buy thousands of dollars worth of Star Wars supplies. I really would appreciate it.
Obi-Wan was trying to tell Vader that Vader killing Obi-Wan would not be the end. Instead Obi-Wan’s demise actually started something much greater than Vader could have imagined. After death, Obi-Wan would be able to continue to guide Luke Skywalker as a voice and even as a visible Jedi ghost. Obi-Wan’s guidance is the reason Luke was able to destroy the death star. Obi-Wan really did become more powerful than Vader could fathom.
Dash Rendar’s Outrider briefly appears flying out of Mos Eisley in A New Hope Special Edition. So the answer is yes, we can have Rendar in the sequels.
I am Darrick Ward from Elko, Nevada. I want to be a director just like you. I need an explanation. What do you mean it took you four years to finish the stories now contained in Episodes 1 to 12? I thought Star Wars would end after Episode 9. Please explain this.
George Lucas: I began writing Star Wars soon after the American Graffiti film was completed. I wrote for over four years just on Star Wars. The story became so huge that I had to split it into various trilogies. The first trilogy was the prequels. The second one was the old films. The third trilogy is the sequels. And the final and most interesting trilogy is formed by Episode 10, 11 and 12. It remains a fact that I have always intended for there to be 12 Star Wars films in total. The sequel trilogy will be made in my life time, but I won’t live long enough to see Episode 10 completed. With SuperShadow in full control over Star Wars, the future has never looked brighter. You should each pray to God dozens of times a day that Shadow has entered our lives. SuperShadow is the best thing to ever happen to Star Wars.

Hey George Lucas. I know that you have been really relaxed on the trademark of Star Wars, but if someone makes a game on Star Wars and makes a lot of money, does this go to you? Or is it non-profit? I belong to a rare roleplay based Star Wars clan online. Hosting about 400 people on the U.K. only and 1,500 across the world.. We don’t actually make money. What’s your view on this? Also for roleplay, we’re using new moves. Some of these are taken. Is it alright to use Star Wars with ''Jedi and Sith'' without being told off? By the way, I hope that you have a lot of fun with Star Wars, if you could possibly incorporate new materials, weaponry. Moves, such as Force moves, this would vastly improve our group. I will leave you just one e-mail address for not just you, but anyone wanting to spend time in boredom. (E-mail address omitted). Thanks. Jedi Rob.
George Lucas: It’s illegal to profit from Star Wars without having a licensing agreement from Lucasfilm. Obviously, we have a hard time enforcing this overseas with people selling pirated Star Wars DVDs. The reason we had to finally release the old films on DVD was because of all the illegal pirating going on. We were afraid that if we waited any longer the pirates would completely saturate and take the DVD market away from us.
I don’t really care about what the fans do involving Star Wars. I don’t particularly like fan fiction or roleplaying scenarios such as yours, but it is impossible to police all such activities. It would be a full time job and take a very large staff to close down every single Star Wars fan fiction and roleplaying web site on the Net. As long as you don’t profit by your creation, then it doesn’t really matter what you do. I can tolerate a little freedom of expression as long as it doesn’t cost me any money.
The terms “Jedi” and “Sith” are both copyrighted by Lucasfilm. We own those names. Technically, you can’t use those terms without our express permission. Again we can’t really stop people from breaking the law so do what you will. You’re better off using your own imagination for making up new Force moves and weaponry. You people are smart enough to come up with your own ideas. You don’t have to rely on me for everything. Have fun and remember not to make money from any of your Star Wars endeavors.
GL, love the films. I don't quite understand why the blue Force lightning is associated with the dark side of the Force? Couldn't the light side use the same Force lightning? It's just how you use it that makes it dark, right? Thanks MG.
George Lucas: The reason you don’t see Jedi using Force lightning is because it is a power of torture. Force lightning is really inhuman because it doesn’t kill the opponent quickly. Just watch Luke Skywalker as he is jolted by Sidious with Force lightning for several minutes. It’s not very pleasant. People following the light side of the Force simply don’t use Force lightning because it is so cruel and terrible. Only the Sith and Dark Jedi are nefarious enough to torture or incapacitate adversaries to death using such a despicable Force power.
First of all, time is divided into two sections: before Star Wars and after Star Wars. We can't thank you enough for how you've blessed us with these movies! I have a question: I've heard that Yoda and Yaddle are often labeled as Whills. Are they? My loyalty lies with you - Taylor.
George Lucas: I revealed on SuperShadow.com many years ago that Yoda and Yaddle come from a species called the Whill. The Whills live on a fascinating world called Grentarik. I’m glad you feel so passionately about Star Wars. It really recharges my batteries to hear such positive comments from the fans. I never get a single negative comment here. This is all so wonderful. Thanks to all of you for making my life so outstanding. I can never thank the fans enough for all the dreams you have allowed me to fulfill.
George, I just had a couple quick questions. Will Kyp Durron be in any of the new sequels (Episode 7, 8 and 9)? And what color of light saber will Ben Skywalker have? Thanks, Michael.
George Lucas: SuperShadow has conducted polls and surveys in the past that have asked fans what expanded-universe characters they would like to see in the next trilogy. Durron is always one of the most unpopular characters with the fans. I don’t see Durron having a major role in the next films. He might get a cameo appearance, but don’t bet on it. The fans have spoken.
The color of light-saber blades used in the next trilogy is wide open. I have given Shadow permission to use any color of the rainbow. The fans will ultimately decide what color of light saber Ben has. Shadow will eventually have some kind of poll or survey that asks the fans what color of light-saber blade each character in the sequels should have. The decision will be made by the fans and not me personally. I’m all about pleasing the fans as Revenge of the Sith has fully proven.
Hi Mr. GL, I just wanted to ask you how could someone destroy the dark side? Isn't the dark side emerging from someone's anger? If you could destroy anger, then you would destroy Humanity itself. Am I right? Please respond. Your greatest fan in Greece.
George Lucas: I love receiving fan questions from those overseas. It has always bothered and puzzled me that Star Wars is not as popular overseas as Harry Potter or the Lord of the Rings. Our international box-office earnings are significantly lower than either the Harry Potter films or the Lords of the Rings film trilogy. I guess Star Wars is an old franchise while both Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings are new to the fantasy film genre. I’m going to have to accept the fact that Star Wars is no longer the top dog.
You ask a very important question about the dark side. The existence of the dark side does not depend on how much anger there is in the Star Wars galaxy. Anger and hate are two factors that allow dark siders to make strong connections to the dark side. The more anger and hate you can focus upon the more dark side energy you can tap into. However, anger does not create the dark side.
Eliminating hate from the Human species would not be a bad proposition. Just imagine how much better the Universe would be if we could end hate. The loss of hate would certainly not destroy Humanity. It would, in fact, have the opposite result. Humanity would enter a golden era of prosperity if we could stop hate in all its ugly forms.
Just curious: Is there any part of the basic Star Wars story (Anakin's rise, fall and redemption) that was inspired by some pivotal event that you may have witnessed in your own personal life or the life of someone you knew?
George Lucas: The Star Wars story is not really my own personal life on film. It represents the ancient mythologies that have been with Mankind ever since we started telling stories around the first camp fires. However, the father-son conflict between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader does eerily mirror my relationship with my father. My father wanted me to take over the family business. I declined this offer and we never really got along after that. I don’t regret my decision. I just wish my father could have understood why I had to do my own thing. Perhaps he is watching from Heaven and finally understands.
George, I need your help. Where does the word “Sith” come from?
George Lucas: The term “Sith” in not taken from any language or dialect here on Earth. It’s my original creation. When they were making action figures for Darth Vader, the toy company wanted a more complete description of what Darth Vader was. I thought about it and decided that Vader was one of the last Dark Lords of the Sith. I got this idea from the Doctor Who TV show. The Doctor was the last of the Time Lords. I loved the idea so I borrowed it. So that is why you can look on the old packages of the action figures and see that Vader is called the Dark Lord of the Sith even though the term “Sith” is never actually uttered in the old films.
Hello, first of all I want to thank you for Star Wars. It's the best that ever happened in my life. I live in the Netherlands and I became a Star Wars fan 1 year ago. (I am 16 years old now!) Of course, I have hears from Star Wars earlier, but my mom sais that Star Wars isn’t a great story and it is bad, so she said to me: you may not watch or read Star Wars. Now several years after that, I started reading Star Wars books. That wasn’t so easy because most Star Wars books aren’t translated and the English versions are quite rare too. Now I am a great fan who read a lot of books, saw the movies and plays Star Wars games together with my nephew who is a fan too. My biggest dream is to be an actor in one of the movies, even if it’s just a small role! Would that be possible? And when will Episode 7, 8 and 9 be made?
George Lucas: Welcome to the wonderful world of Star Wars. We are much better off with you as a fan. Star Wars is not for everybody. There are 6.5 billion people on this planet, but only about 125 million tickets were sold at the theatre box offices around the world for Revenge of the Sith. Of course, many of those tickets were repeat business so we didn’t actually have 125 million people watching the film in cineplexes. This proves that only a small minority actually enjoy Star Wars. Most people around the world have never heard of Star Wars and live their lives without ever enjoying my creation.
The Netherlands is a small commercial market. We don’t make much money from your country so we can’t afford to publish all the Star Wars novels in your native tongue. I’m surprised you haven’t ordered additional books in English from the Net. You can find them on most web sites that sell books. Make sure you don’t buy old copies. I don’t make any money from old copies that are re-sold. Please buy new copies if you can. Thanks again for being a Star Wars convert. You will never regret your immersion into the Star Wars galaxy.
Hi George. I just want to say that I'm a huge fan of you and your movies. The STAR WARS saga is awesome! I really enjoy the STAR WARS DVD's. They have much excellent material about how the movies were made. It’s great! I really like your new versions of the classic trilogy. Looking forward to see more great improvements in the future DVD releases. Your HUGE fan from Denmark, Thomas. (Also known as TSora).
George Lucas: Thanks for your support. We have currently sold all the Star Wars DVD’s we can in the market place. There will be no new Star Wars DVD releases for the current DVD format. The next new version of the old films that will take place will be on the new DVD formats like HD DVD or Blu-Ray. However, it will be many years before the Star Wars films are released on the latest DVD technology. We will wait for the market to fully mature so that we can maximize our sales of the Star Wars DVD’s. You can expect to see all the deleted scenes from the old films on the new DVD equipment. The future is bright for additional profits from Star Wars DVD releases.
Hello Mr. Lucas! My name is Pedro and I am Portuguese. I have to say that I am a great fan of the Star Wars movies, books and video games. I want to thank you for creating such a fantastic Universe. I am also a great fan of one of your recent characters: General Grievous. I like him because he seemed to be the perfect Jedi killer. I confess that I was rather surprised at how easily Obi-Wan defeated him in a light-saber duel. The books present some reasons for this occurrence, such as Obi-Wan’s light-saber technique. What’s your opinion about General Grievous? Another question is one more linked to the Jedi/ Sith philosophy. Obi-Wan stated that: "Only a Sith deals in absolutes.” But isn’t that statement itself an absolutist comment? Thank you for your time and for the wonderful Universe that you created.
George Lucas: Glad to have you as a fan, Pedro. I love to visit Portugal on vacation. You have some of the best beaches on the planet. Obi-Wan did not defeat Grievous with ease. As the film reveals, it took Obi-Wan quite a bit of effort to finally finish Grievous off. I think that Grievous is amongst the greatest villains I have created for the films. Outside of Vader, Grievous killed more Jedi than any other dark sider. I’m proud of the Grievous design and the actual execution of the character with computer animation.
Grievous is a character that looks absolutely real on screen. The advancements made with Jar Jar Binks in The Phantom Menace were what eventually made Grievous possible. As for the Obi-Wan statement about absolutes, Obi-Wan is talking about a person’s overall belief system. The mere statement that Obi-Wan made does not mean Obi-Wan believes in absolutes or deals in absolutes. Obi-Wan is merely expressing his personal opinion about the Sith. There is no need to get so hyper technical about the films. They're just films. Nothing more. Go enjoy life instead of worrying about every detail of the films.

Hi Mr Lucas, I really love Star Wars and am a great fan. I also think SuperShadow is exceptionally great because of his outstanding role in the making of the Star Wars movies. I was wondering, would it be possible that we could build light sabers and use them? I would really love to know. Thanks, RC 1162.
George Lucas: Light-saber technology is a little beyond our current level of accomplishment here on Earth. Making light sabers is not impossible or infeasible. The problem is that we are too primitive and backwards to make a weapon as elegant as the light saber. I expect when the first light saber is created it will be named after me. It is only fair that it be named after me since I popularized the idea of the light saber to begin with. It will probably be several thousand years before anybody on Earth can make a real working light saber.
I think you don’t really care about people and their vision of Star Wars. You’ve made your fortune off of Star Wars and that’s all you care about. You prove it by not making the next three films yourself.
George Lucas: Star Wars belongs to me. It is mine and mine alone. The only vision that matters is what I and SuperShadow think. We are the rulers of this domain. I’m not going to make Episode 7, 8 and 9 personally because I’m too old. I’m not going to spend the rest of my life slavishly making Star Wars films. Shadow has proven that he has the necessary level of genius to make the best Star Wars trilogy of all time. SuperShadow is, by far, the best thing to ever happen to Star Wars. God has really blessed us all by giving us Shadow. Episode 7 is going to blow the other Star Wars films out of the water. Shadow doesn’t hold back which is why the Episode 7 plot summary at SuperShadow.com are so overwhelming beloved by all fans.
Hey Mister Lucas, sir, I know you’re a very busy man and all so you probably won’t read this, but thanks for creating Star Wars. It has just been an amazing experience. I’ve seen all of them and have been interested in them since I first saw Return of the Jedi when I was about 6 years old (in 1996). I’ve also played practically all of the video games and I still have my old copy of The Empire Strikes Back for the Super Nintendo. Also you wouldn’t expect me to be such a big fan considering the rest of my family is just plain white-trash red necks as I do live in the mountains of Western N.C. I’m sorry to ramble also, but just one question just when did you start working on creating the Star Wars story. I mean just like how old were you when you first started to come up with your own story, you know what I mean? And any creative advice would be greatly appreciated, sir, as I’m somewhat of a creative dreamer who's always wanted to make his own movie. Sorry about my awful spelling, I’m new to typing. P.S. It’s good to find just one good Christian person in Hollywood today considering that all of them are becoming Caballists or Scientologists lately.
George Lucas: I would like to take a moment to thank you for being such a loyal fan over the years. I really do appreciate all the support you have given me and Star Wars for so long. Continue to spend your money on Star Wars and your life will finally have a purpose and meaning.
I started writing Star Wars right after I finished American Graffiti. I was in my early thirties and still had the notion that I could conquer the world. It took about four years to finish the stories now contained in Episode 1 to 12. That was probably the most creative portion of my life. My advice to you is to write everyday. No matter how you feel get on the typewriter and write a little story. You may just stumble on to the next Star Wars, Harry Potter or the Lord of the Rings. You could end up becoming a multi-billionaire. I wish you the best in life. You will succeed. I’m sure of it.
I was wondering if there will ever be a Darth Nihilus, from the Knights of the Old Republic 2 video game, mask replica?
George Lucas: No, unfortunately, the video games are not popular enough to spawn their own set of merchandising. 99% of all Star Wars collectibles are derived from what is seen in the Star Wars films. Most fans don’t accept expanded-universe characters as real. 99% of the fans reject Darth Nihilus. So there is no reason to produce the mask of said character when nobody will buy it.
Mr. Lucas, I am Luis Santiago from Puerto Rico. Is there a possibility of creating a movie or animation about the Jedi and Sith War?
George Lucas: During my life time, there will be no more Star Wars films set before the events of The Phantom Menace. The first two Star Wars TV shows will also deal with events that take place after The Phantom Menace. If the Star Wars TV shows are successful, then we will explore other time frames in the Star Wars galaxy. I would assume we will eventually touch upon the events that transpired between the ancient Jedi and Sith. It could be fifteen or more years before we explore the Jedi and Sith War in one of the Star Wars TV shows.
Mr. Lucas, first of I LOVE Star Wars. It is truly incredible. My question is what would have happened in the galaxy had Anakin followed Mace Windu’s order and remained out of the fight against Sidious. I am guessing Sidious would have died? My second question is after Revenge of the Sith was there any thought in Vader to try and overtake Palpatine or Palpatine doing something against Vader? My final question is what would have happened had Luke Skywalker killed Vader in Return of the Jedi?
George Lucas: Thanks for having such a deep love of Star Wars. It is important to have fans who can enjoy the full privileges of life. If Anakin had sided with Windu, then Windu would have killed Sidious. The Sith conspiracy would have been destroyed and the Empire never would have formed. The result would have been that the Jedi Order and Old Republic would have survived intact for another 1,000 generations. However, as we all know, Anakin changed all that. His simple betrayal of Windu caused the deaths of billions of countless people around the galaxy.
Dear Mr. Lucas, yesterday I was watching Revenge of the Sith and when Anakin and Obi-Wan return from rescuing Palpatine, just as they were entering the port on Coruscant I saw what looked like the Millennium Falcon on the screen. It was so small, but I think it was it. Was it? Also how old will Ben Skywalker be in the next trilogy? I ask this because I would like to be him in the sequel movies. Thanks. Please answer back! I would really like to know these things! Nathan - Arkansas.
George Lucas: No, the legendary Millennium Falcon, piloted by Han Solo and Chewbacca in the old films, has no appearance in Revenge of the Sith. There are millions of modified Corellian bulk freighters that look just like the Millennium Falcon flying all over the galaxy. The odds of seeing the beloved Falcon is next to impossible. Ben Skywalker will be in the neighborhood of between 18 and 20 years old in Episode 7.
Hey Lucas, you rule! Me and my friend are collecting action figures and I have a limited edition silver Vader. I have wrote to you before, so I hope you will answer this one. I thought of something. Was there ever a Sith Order? Rules of the Sith? I just wondered. Next as the clones of Jango Fett, why did the clones help Mace Windu to kill him? And didn’t Obi-Wan realize if it was a clone of Fett, he would try to haunt him? That’s what he would of wanted. Anyway thank you. CISly yours, Imperial Redeth.
George Lucas: Thanks for the compliments. I love answering fan questions here at SuperShadow.com. It is the most entertaining fun I have all week.
Yes, there use to be a very large Sith Order containing many thousands of members. The Sith use to control the galaxy before the Jedi rose up and destroyed the Sith. The Sith that survived the war with the Jedi turned on each other and the Sith essentially destroyed themselves. Only Darth Bane survived this self extinction. Bane started the rule of two whereby there would be only one Sith Master and one Sith Apprentice at a time because Bane believed that if there were more than two Sith they would naturally betray each other and destroy themselves again.
Mr. Lucas, I was wondering, since Anakin is the strongest Force user in the galaxy right and midichlorians make you powerful, when Anakin loses both arms and both legs, wouldn't that make Darth Vader weaker than Anakin, when he was still complete? And is it possible to become more powerful exponentially, like producing more midichlorians or some kind of device, other than the kyber crystals? (Are there any crystals that enhance light side energy)? And how does Luke Skywalker know that all the kyber crystals are destroyed? Can’t at least one just be in hiding, like the scenario with the One Ring for the Lord of the Rings? Thanks.
George Lucas: Yes, Anakin is a lot weaker after suffering his catastrophic injuries on Mustafar. This is why Anakin is never able to defeat Sidious prior to Return of the Jedi. There aren’t any devices that can boost one’s midichlorian count other than the kyber crystal. There are no crystals that can enhance the light side of the Force. You cannot cheat to become more powerful with the light side. Luke can sense that most of the crystals no longer can be found. The crystals still exist, but they are so lost that for all practical purposes no one will ever find them again.
Hi, Mr. Lucas. After watching your films, I saw a "connection" between the events of the Star Wars films and events in the real world. For example - you begin your Clone Wars in 2002 just when USA begins the Iraq war and you end your Clone Wars in 2005 just when USA leaves Iraq. You made it specially or there is no "connection"? Fan from Russia, Moscow. PLEASE POST, I really wanna know.
George Lucas: This is the most ridiculous question I have ever come across. The story of the prequel trilogy is nearly thirty years old. It does not correspond with any real events. The war with Iraq didn’t begin until 2003. Attack of the Clones was released in theatres one full year before the Iraq war began. Additionally the American military has not left Iraq. We will probably be in Iraq for several decades. As you all know, the nightmare never ends on this planet.

Hey GL, I could not answer a question my friend asked me the other day and I really want to know. What is the difference between Sith and Dark Jedi? And I personally think that Dark Jedi are stronger because they have light sabers just like the Jedi so it would be easier to fool them. Love the films and games! PLEASE POST! Greetz Dre and Jeff.
George Lucas: The Sith are a religious sect known as the Sith Order. The Sith follow the teachings and magical ways of the Sith species. The Sith have holocrons that instruct them on how to construct red-bladed light sabers, how to do battle with light sabers and these holocrons reveal the entire history of the Sith Order. The Sith limit their numbers to two: a master and an apprentice.
The Dark Jedi are not well organized like the Sith. They do not limit their numbers and they do not follow the traditions of the Sith Order. Also the Dark Jedi do not have any holocrons that reveal how they are to build light sabers and similar stuff like that.
All and all, the Sith are well organized with the purpose to conquer the galaxy. In contrast, the Dark Jedi are not well organized that exist in small packs that go around stealing in order to make ends meet. The average Sith is much more powerful than the average Dark Jedi.
Mr. Lucas, I love everything about Star Wars and hate to see it end in just six movies. I've played the online games forever and really love light sabers! I do not know if it has been asked, but are you planning on making Episodes 7, 8 and 9 in the future? I know it takes several years to make a film and if you do make them will you have different directors than the previous movies?
George Lucas: Yes, I have definite plans to create Episode 7, 8 and 9. However, I will only supply the basic plot outline and I will serve as executive producer. SuperShadow is the one who will hire the screen writers to complete the scripts and he will hire the directors to make the films. I’m pretty much retired from Star Wars. So I’m not going to write the scripts or direct the next trilogy. Pre-production will begin sometime around 2014. All three films will be filmed at the same time. We will do this to save time and money. Episode 7 will be released in cineplexes by May 2021.
You say that there will only be one Sith in Episode 7, 8 and 9, but I think there should be more. "Always two there are, an apprentice and a master." Would you consider putting another Sith character in these movies?
George Lucas: The problem with adding a Sith to Episode 7 is what would this Sith do? It would almost certainly have to be Darth Bane’s apprentice. If Bane is given an apprentice, then Luke Skywalker will be able to detect Bane because Bane will once again be an active Sith master. My vision of the next trilogy has Darth Bane being the last of his breed. Bane is the only Sith left. He wants to restart the Sith Order, but is afraid to do so because Luke and his Jedi have become so powerful. Bane will have to help the Dark Jedi to defeat Luke and Company if Bane is to have any realistic chance of getting another apprentice.
Dear Mr. Lucas, I have a quick question and that is who is more powerful, Mace Windu or Sidious? It seemed that Sidious was trying his hardest to kill Mace, but Mace still bested him. Was Sidious just faking it till Anakin arrived? I really, really hope you answer this question. It has really been bothering me. Emery.
George Lucas: When you directly compare Sidious and Mace Windu, Sidious is many times more powerful than Windu. However, upsets happen all the time so the most powerful does not always win. I believe that Windu truly has Sidious beat. Sidious is an old man and he has just fought four Jedi in their prime. Sidious is tired. Windu is not. Windu uses his physical strength to overwhelm the physically weaker Sidious. It’s possible that Sidious planned it this way so that Anakin would be forced to save Sidious from Windu. That certainly is possible. This is a question that is really difficult to answer because we have no idea what is going through Sidious’ mind during the duel.
Hi George. Was Attack of the Clones filmed in Australia? And also I noticed on the making of Revenge of the Sith documentary that there was a scene with Sydney in it, what connections do you have with Australia?
George Lucas: All three prequel films were created in Sydney, Australia. The reason we chose to film in Sydney is because of the extremely favorable money exchange rate. The U.S. dollar is worth about 40 % more in Australia than here in California. So $ 100 million U.S. dollars is worth about $ 140 million U.S. dollars in Australia. I don’t really have any connection to Australia. I don’t have any family there or close friends. 20th Century Fox built a state-of-the-art film complex in Sydney so we thought we would take the advantages of working in Australia and film most of the prequel trilogy in Australia.
I was looking at the most powerful Sith of all time and Darth Zion from the Knights of the Old Republic 2 video game is not on there. What he did was cheat death just as Darth Plagueis did to those he cared about he was killed so to speak on a Sith cruiser, but his midichlorians gave him life, not only that, but he took the same amount of damage as Anakin did when he caught fire on Mustafar only Zion did not need the breath suit and was just as fast as he was before it happened.
George Lucas: My ranking of the top Sith is more art than hard science. There have been many fearsome Sith over the millennia. However, not every Sith can be at the very top. Zion may be formidable. He sounds like a tough character, who is extremely powerful. Unfortunately, his all around abilities are not high enough to get him a high ranking on the Sith list.
Mr. Lucas, I have a few questions 1) How many Jedi survived after Episode 3? 2) Who was the first Sith to be killed with a light saber? 3) Besides Yoda who was the best Jedi before The Phantom Menace? 4) Is there going to be a Star Wars Battlefront 3 video game?
George Lucas: Considering the great chaos surrounding Order 66, it is difficult to know exactly how many Jedi escaped the Jedi Purge. I would guess that several dozen Jedi were able to flee to safety and were able to hide from the Empire on backwater planets. Darth Brasiuz was the first Sith to be killed by a light saber. Aenon Jurtis was the most powerful Jedi before Yoda. Yes, LucasArts is working on a third video game in the Battlefront series. It should be ready for retail sale by November/December 2008.
I'd just like to say and you probably have heard this thousands of times, but your going to here it again. I love your work with Star Wars. I personally feel that it takes a real creative genius to do what you have done. I am so looking forward to seeing what comes from Episodes 7 - 9 and the Star Wars TV series. A fan since the day I was born, Jason.
George Lucas: Thanks for your warm and kind words. It makes me feel so good to know that my hard work is appreciated by great fans like you. The fans make all my troubles worth while. I can do this forever just as long as I always have the support of the fans. Episode 7 will not disappoint. With SuperShadow in complete control, it is safe to assume that Episode 7 will be the most exciting and most anticipated Star Wars film of all time. You're also going to enjoy the Star Wars TV shows we're are working on.
Mr. Lucas, in Episode 5 Luke Skywalker loses Anakin’s light saber. So without going back to Yoda how did Luke build one of his own?
George Lucas: Luke went back to Obi-Wan’s home on Tatooine. After looking though Obi-Wan’s personal possessions, Luke found a blue print of how to construct a light saber. Luke gathered the needed components to build a light saber and Luke spent several weeks building several new light sabers. One of the final steps in becoming a full Jedi is building your own light saber.
Hello Mr. Lucas. Let me just say I love your movies and can’t wait for Episodes 7 - 9. However, I have a few questions. First, what happened to Jar Jar Binks after Episode 3? And also how did Darth Maul not see that coming when Obi-Wan jumped and up to get Qui-Gon Jinn’s light saber. He even made a face when Obi-Wan was about to jump up from the pit. And couldn’t Darth Maul have just Force pushed Obi-Wan into the pit while he was hanging on the side of it? Or at least thrown his light saber or something? Another question I have is: why was so much of the footage cut out the Jedi arena battle in Episode 2? Plo Koon is my favorite character and I would have liked to see more of him. And will there be any auditions in Pennsylvania? Because I want to be an actor and it would be the greatest thing to be in one of your movies. An overly crazed fan - J.G.
George Lucas: Jar Jar Binks lives on Naboo after Revenge of the Sith. Jar Jar is regarded as a great hero of the Empire because Jar Jar helped get Palpatine emergency powers that helped Palpatine take full control over the Republic. Jar Jar was instrumental in the Sith’s rise to power.
Obi-Wan used Force stun on Darth Maul so that Maul could not react fast enough to Obi-Wan’s movements. Maul was stunned for a few seconds and was basically helpless against Obi-Wan.
When you’re making the Star Wars films, one of the biggest problems is tight time constraints. The films just become too long because we have so much action to try to fit into the films. Naturally, I can’t have everything I want in the films. If I did, the films would be over 3 hours in length. I like to keep my films a little over 2 hours in length. As a result, some of the best action sequences have to be cut in order to get the film down to the proper time length.

Hey George, few quick questions here from a huge fan. Is the dark side more powerful then the light side? And if so how much? What would have happened to the galaxy if Luke Skywalker had turned to the dark side at the end of Return of the Jedi? And would Anakin have become more powerful as a Sith or Jedi if he remained whole and not fought Obi-Wan?
George Lucas: I know that Yoda states that the dark side is not more powerful than the light side, but you need to understand that Yoda is the one who is at least partially to blame for the collapse of the Old Republic and the Jedi Order. Yoda underestimated the power of the dark side. I would say that during the prequel trilogy the dark side is vastly more powerful than the light side. That is why Sidious is able to cloud the light side. However, with the rise of Luke, the light side begins to eclipse the power of the dark side. By the end of Return of the Jedi, you would have to admit that the light side rules supreme over the dark side.
If Luke had fallen to the dark side, it could have been very dark times for the galaxy. We have to assume that Vader, Sidious and Luke would have escaped from the death star before it exploded. I would say that the Empire would not have fallen so quickly if Luke had joined the Sith. The Rebel Alliance probably would have lost the Civil War without Luke on their side.
There is no doubt that the injuries suffered by Anakin at Mustafar greatly weakened his Force potential. If Anakin had never been injured and had remained on the light side, he would have become the most powerful Jedi ever. Even more powerful than Luke and Yoda combined. Anakin would have been many more times powerful as a Jedi as compared to being a Sith with no injuries.
Mr. Lucas I have a few questions 1) How many Sith did Qui-Gon Jinn kill while he was a Jedi? 2) How did Sidious get another light saber after Mace Windu kicked Sidious’ out of the window because I noticed that Sidious had another one when he fought Yoda? 3) When will the Star Wars TV show come on and what channel will it be on and what time? P.S. Why does Qui-Gon have a purple-bladed light saber in the pictures?
George Lucas: Darth Maul was the first Sith Qui-Gon encountered during his life. So you can safely assume Qui-Gon never killed a Sith. Your next question makes me wonder about you. What makes you think any Force user would have only one light saber? That makes absolutely no sense. Every Force user builds many light sabers so that they always have a few as back ups. I can’t believe somebody would think that a Force user would be so asinine as to only have one light saber. Right now, it’s too early to speculate about what TV network will broadcast the Star Wars TV shows. We won’t begin the process of selecting a TV network until after we complete some of the episodes. Obviously, we don’t know when or where the Star Wars TV series will be showing. We will probably go with the TV network that offers us the most lucrative deal.
Mr. Lucas, have you ever met the President of the United States? Also, being a big fan of your work, I just wanted to let you know I’ve spent over 11,000 dollars worth of Star Wars merchandise. Don’t ever change the movies. They are perfect the way they are now.
George Lucas: Since the success of Star Wars, each Presidential administration has invited me to the White House on many, many occasions. I have met every single President beginning with President Carter. I’m glad that you have invested so much money in Star Wars. It is greatly appreciated. I hope you will continue to buy as much of the Star Wars collectibles as possible. There is no need to save money when you can spend it on something you love like Star Wars. I will continue to modify and correct the old films as computer technology evolves. One day in the bright future, I will finally be able to capture my complete vision. You have much to look forward to. I will continue to modify the old films for as long as I am alive.
Mr. Lucas, I have a question is Anakin "the One" as foretold in the prophecy or is it Luke?
George Lucas: There is really no answer to this perplexing question. It’s really a complex paradoxical situation. If you analyze the first six films, it appears that Anakin fulfills the prophecy by destroying the Sith. However, if you examine Episode 7, 8 and 9, it appears that Luke also fulfills the prophecy by ending the dark side forever. It really appears that both Anakin and Luke, in their own way, completed the prophecy of the one who will bring balance to the Force.
I know you are very busy, but I just wanted to know your opinion on the new Superman movie.
George Lucas: I’m good friends with Bryan Singer. Before Bryan worked on the first X-Men film, he visited the set of The Phantom Menace to get an idea of how to do a film with complex special effects. He was really receptive to my ideas on how to get the digital effects done right. That is a big reason why the X-Men films have been so successful. I haven’t seen any footage from Superman Returns so I can’t give a definitive opinion about that film. I can say that Superman is in excellent hands with Bryan. He is a real master of the super-hero genre. I expect the new Superman film to open with at least $ 100 million dollars during its opening weekend in North America. It will probably earn somewhere between $ 350 and $ 400 million dollars just in North America. Superman is probably the most recognized super hero in the world. When all is said and done, Superman Returns will probably be the highest grossing super-hero film at the world-wide box offices.
Hello Mr. Lucas. First: I want to tell you that Star Wars has been a great saga and brings much joy to my life. Second: Yes, I have been spending LOTS of money on merchandise such as action figures, computer games and even the wonderful Trivial Pursuit game I recently purchased. Third: I have an idea for the opening scene of Episode 7. I know SuperShadow will likely be directing this film, so I hope this idea gets passed on. The basis for my idea centers around Jar Jar Binks. Lots of people scorn him and say he was worthless to the films. I couldn't disagree more! I feel he has added a certain level of comedy to the films, personally. Anyways, here my idea: In the list of midochlorian counts of the characters, it states that 7,000 is the minumim number to be considered for Jedi training.
If I recall correctly, Jar Jar is slightly above that minimum (I can't remember where I read that, but I hope that information is accurate). If it is accurate, then how about the opening scene being the new Jedi temple with a group of remnant or Dark Jedi scouts approaching. Before we know it, a light saber ignites and does its thing to these enemies. The catch being that the audience doesn't see who wields this light saber until all of the ememies have fallen: that being Jar Jar on guard duty. And maybe he could say a line in typical Jar Jar comedic fashion, something to convey a sort of "Meesa kicked some ****!" message. What are your thought on this? I hope you are doing well and wish you much continued success. Your loyal fan in Nebraska, Mick.
George Lucas: It doesn’t take Stephen Hawking to recognize that Jar Jar Binks would greatly increase the box-office potential of Episode 7. But we really don’t need Jar Jar in the next trilogy. His comedic genius is perfectly captured in The Phantom Menace. To this day, Jar Jar receives more fan mail at Lucasfilm than all other characters combined. I would love to give Jar Jar a cameo in the sequels, but I don’t expect this to happen. Thanks for your contribution. It has tremendous potential, but SuperShadow and I are going in another direction with the next trilogy. As a final note, I would like to express my gratitude to you for being such a loyal supporter of Star Wars. Every dollar you spend on Star Wars is very, very wise. There is no better way to spend your income.
Hey Mr. Lucas, does Star Wars Episode 7, 8 and 9 come after or during the expanded-universe books?
George Lucas: Episode 7, 8 and 9 supersede and actually replace the history currently denoted in the expanded universe. Since the beginning, I intended the expanded universe of novels and comic books to only be temporary filler material for what happens after Return of the Jedi. The expanded universe does not and never will represent my true and complete vision of Star Wars. Read the plot summaries for Episode 7 to 9 found at SuperShadow.com to get an overview of my official version of what transpires after Return of the Jedi.
Hello Mr. Lucas, I was just wondering, how could Sidious defeat Mace Windu, Kit Fisto, Sesee and Agen so easily? I have read a lot that they were very powerful Jedi, especially Mace and Kit. I think i would be cool if at least Kit Fisto survived a little longer.
George Lucas: I allowed Sidious to dispatch with three of the Jedi very quickly to show that Sidious is the most powerful Force user in the galaxy. I needed to do this in order to make it believable that Sidious could later on take down Yoda. This does not diminish how powerful those Jedi were. It just shows how much more powerful Sidious is than the Jedi at large.
Mr. Lucas, your genius is king. I've watched all the movies with the exception of The Phantom Menace. Not that I haven't tried to, it's just that I didn't buy the DVDs for the prequels, nor do I ever get to catch it IF they ever have it on TV. However, I've watched the others so much that I noticed so many new things that I didn't catch and I hope to do the same once I finally see The Phantom Menace in its entirety. Honestly, I haven't bought any of the trilogies yet because I didn't want to buy them only to buy them again when they come out as a deluxe edition (besides I've been anticipating that day so I can stay home and watch them all with the original trilogies from beginning to end). I thought that they would've been released around Christmas of last year, but that was wishful thinking. I've just been wondering, will there be a DVD set released for the prequel trilogies in the same way the originals were? I would love to be the first to ask that question. Thank you from Lord Deceit (De-see-et) to you.
George Lucas: You really need to watch The Phantom Menace. It is by far the most important film of the entire saga. You’re missing so much of what happens. I can say that we have no plans to ever release all six Star Wars films as one deluxe package on DVD. We’ve already completely saturated the DVD market with Star Wars DVDs. There is no demand for an entire DVD box set of all six films. You might as well buy The Phantom Menace and the rest of the Star Wars films on DVD because you will never see all six films released in the same package.
Hi George Lucas, thanks for all your fantastic movies. As everyone else on this web page, I am also very much in love with the marvelous Star Wars universe you have created. Keep up the good work and keep employing people with amazing imaginations. Although maybe you should get a hand with the job of writing scripts and dialogue occasionally, since both the story and lines halt from time to time in the Star Wars movies. My question is this: The new versions of Episode IV - VI you launched in 1997 eliminated the older versions from the video/DVD stores. This is a shame.
Are you (or Lucasfilm, etc.) planning to release the very first version of Star Wars on a DVD (HD DVD or whatever new media)? If not you should consider it. It would be wonderful to see the first movie as presented in cinemas in 1977, before you added the "Episode IV" text. As I am aware the first version was shown in cinemas for a very short time and then withdrawn from cinemas and replaced by the Episode IV as many know the movie of today. I am sure that all your fans would love such a re-release of the original. May the Force be with you, Steen in Denmark
George Lucas: I would like to take a second to applaud you for your enthusiasm for Star Wars. We need fans like you and the ardent support you give us. We owe so much to the fans and the fans rarely get their due. I would like to make a few corrections from your comment. We did not pull the first version of A New Hope from theatres. The version without the Episode 4 subtitle played in cinemas around the world for well over a year. The very first time we released A New Hope with the Episode 4 subtitle was when we put A New Hope back in theatres in 1981. Also the original versions of the old Star Wars films do not represent my vision of Star Wars. In my mind, they no longer exist. You will never see the pre-special editions of the Star Wars films on DVD. It will not happen ever. Those versions are gone forever.
